Betts Longworth Historic District Walking Tour

Highlighting the buildings and historic facilities related to the Sept. 24 lecture, The Secret History of the West End: Building a Community Across Races and Religions, the Betts House is proud to be offering a special walking tour on October 11. The guided walking tour of the BLHD will explore the architecture and history of this unique neighborhood. Tucked away in the southeast corner of the West End, the BLHD features streetscapes unlike any other in the city. Narrow Italianate homes are mixed with nineteenth century farmhouses and early twentieth century gems. The Betts Longworth Historic District, once farmland far removed from town, became the home of notable manufacturing and retailing families. The stories of their homes and business will be explored in this 90 minute tour lead by Betts House volunteers.
